WHERE TO STAY IN CANBERRA?

You have your Jurassic Bal pass, and now planning on where to stay? Let us help you with some suggestions and tips to make your trip planning a little easier!

Jurassic Bal will take place in the city, and while everything is a 10min drive away, you can make your stay a little easier if you can find accommodation in these suburbs:

  • Northside: City, Acton, Reid, Campbell, Braddon, Turner, O’Connor, Dickson

  • Southside: Barton, Kingston, Griffith

All of these areas have easy access to the venues, either via public transport (light rail for Northside or bus Southside) or short walk.

This year, we have partnered with hotels across Canberra City offering discounted rates for attendees of Jurassic Bal from Thursday 26 March to Monday 30 March 2026:

  1. QT Hotel: located a 10min walk to most venues. Go on their website:  www.qthotels.com, and use code 2603JURASS at check out for 15% off your stay.

  2. Quest Canberra City Walk: located 5-10 min from all venues. Go on their website:  Quest Canberra City, and use code JBAL26 at check out for 20% off your stay.

  3. Novotel Canberra: located a 5min walk from all venues

  4. Quest Canberra: located a 5min walk from all venues

  5. A by Adina: located about 10min walk from all venues

Some of your Canberra friends have also started offering options to host, which we will get to later. In the meantime, we do recommend you pre-book on Booking.com (or other website) with free cancellation options. At least you know you’ve secured a place for the time being, and can change your mind until closer to the event.

Where to eat in

canberra city?

The lightrail works are still ongoing, so the city is a bit of a mess to navigate at the moment, but these are accessible places to have lunch and good coffee, located around Verity Lane:

  • Verity Lane Markets: downstairs at the workshop venue: we know there were some issues last year but we have spoken to them and they will make sure the stallholders are ready for y’all.

  • Al’s Deli: around the corner from Verity Lane. Great coffee and sandwiches. We highly recommend you order beforehand as they are always busy (for good reasons).

  • Ethiopian on Northbourne: a few minutes walk from Verity Lane, delicious Ethipian Food we highly recommend.

  • Bistro Nguyen’s: just across the road from Verity Lane. Great Vietnamese food with vego/vegan options

  • Civic Asian Noodle House: also across the road. Cheap and cheerful. All deitary requirements catered for.

  • Baby Su: 5min walk from Verity Lane. The best waffle fries (and vegan ramen) you’ll ever have in Canberra.

  • B-One: craving some late-r night foods? Look no more. B-One is open til 12.30am every night.
